Syria plays an important part in this year’s festival and so do music. We have several music documentaries lined up such as “Silvana”, about the charismatic Swedish female rapper Silvana Imam and “I called him Morgan”, which tells the story about the jazz legend Lee Morgan’s murder that sent shockwaves through the jazz community. Murder and serial killers are also among the topics in this year´s selected films with documentaries such as “Letters to a serial killer” where the sister of a victim of the Malmö serial killer contacts the killer to get answers. And if you like a murder mystery don’t miss “Out of Thin Air” about the disappearance of two men on Iceland in the early 1970s.

To follow up the Finnish focus we invite you to throw your clothes and join our “Sauna Cinema”, let out your inner primal scream and join the “Scream Along Cinema” and dive into the world of Mika Taanila at his “Masterclass: Cameraless Excursions”. Virtual Reality is this year again having a central place in the film festival with numerous VR works and experiences open and free to the public to try out at this years Festival Hub – NP Hangout @ Inkonst.

For our celebrated industry guests we enfold our industry sessions in a Conference Programme where we combine focus on financing, distribution, and sales with the creative processes for filmmakers. To name a few of the 30+ sessions, you can catch the 2017 dok.incubator Previews, get closer to how to use Dance choreography for cinematic storytelling and join discussions on how to further challenge filmmakers in their documentary storytelling.

So come, scream along, sweat, fright and dance it off!

GENERAL INFO / SHORT FACTS
The Nordisk Panorama festival has a unique setup focused on Nordic Documentaries and Short films produced in the Nordics or made by Nordic filmmakers and yearly highlights one Nordic Country. In 2017 it’s Finland. The festival annually also invites an Industry Delegation from a non-Nordic country. This year we welcome a team of film professionals from France to join our industry events.
Nordisk Panorama is also an important meeting place for filmmakers to finance their projects and sell finished movies at the Nordisk Panorama Forum and Market. The Forum have 24 selected projects for pitch during the festival out of numerous submissions and the Market will have around 250 Nordic Titles in the Market Catalogue accessible during the film festival for market professionals to screen.
