Wolfeov pretjerano duga\u010dak roman koji je nudio raznim izdava\u010dima bio je svugdje odbijen. A kada se \u010dinilo da vi\u0161e nema koga tko bi ga prihvatio, uredni\u010dki posao preuzeo je \u010dovjek zaslu\u017ean za slavu najpoznatijih ameri\u010dkih pisaca kao \u0161to su Francis Scott Fitzgerald (Veliki Gatsby) i Ernest Hemingway (Starac i more, Zbogom oru\u017eje, Kome zvono zvoni,&#8230;). Uvjet za objavu romana bilo je njegovo skra\u0107ivanje, \u010dime bi postao jasniji \u010ditateljima, jer ovako je to, bez obzira na to \u0161to na to se radilo o odli\u010dnim odlomcima, bila samo gomila poglavlja koje je bilo te\u0161ko povezati. I tako je zapo\u010dela suradnja Thomasa Wolfea i Maxa Perkinsa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; width: 100%;\" src=\" https:\/\/media.themoviedb.org\/t\/p\/w1066_and_h600_bestv2\/CSm8M4uj9ba5jVVhbeBbg9hCyJ.jpg \" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fotografiju ustupio <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themoviedb.org\/movie\/267192-genius\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TMDB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Film \u2018Genij\u2019 fokusiran je ve\u0107inom na razdoblje Wolfove i Perkinsove suradnje na Wolfovom prvom i drugom romanom. Nije to bio lak posao, zbog razli\u010ditih karaktera suradnika. Max Perkins (Colin Firth), je konvencionalni \u010dovjek koji ozbiljno i savjesno shva\u0107a svoj posao, a Thomas Wolfe (ekspresivni Jude Law) pisac je koji se ne obazire na dru\u0161tvene konvencije, \u010dovjek sklon drasti\u010dnim promjenama raspolo\u017eenja. Rezultat suradnje je roman \u2018Pogledaj svoj dom, an\u0111ele\u2019 koji \u0107e postati tada\u0161nji literarni bestseller, a autor \u0107e do\u017eivjeti dru\u0161tveno priznanje.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thomas Wolfe \u017eivi s desetak godina starijom \u017eenom (Nicole Kidman), koja mu, osim financijske, daje i moralnu podr\u0161ku. Napustila je supruga i dijete kako bi mu se posvetila, a njihova u oskudici romanti\u010dna veza trpi posljedice Wolfove slave. Drugi roman koji je u rukopisu Thomas Wolfe donio Perkinsu bio je toliko obiman, da je tako\u0111er zahtijevao znatna kra\u0107enja. Samo dio uvodnog poglavlja u kojem autor pi\u0161e o liku koji na \u017eeljezni\u010dkoj stanici \u010deka vlak ima osamdeset stranica, na \u0161to je Max Perkins duhovito primijetio kako bi svatko tko bi toliko \u010dekao, sigurno odustao od \u010dekanja vlaka. Osobno su Wolfe i Perkins, tijekom suradnje, \u010desto putovali vlakom u predgra\u0111e New Yorka, gdje je \u017eivjela Perkinsonova obitelj, supruga (Laura Linney) i njihovih pet k\u0107eri.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nakon \u0161to je objavio svoj drugi roman \u2018O vremenu i rijeci\u2019, suradnja pisca i urednika do\u0161la je u krizu. Wolfe je smatrao kako mo\u017ee sam bez zavr\u0161iti svoje djelo, ne shva\u0107aju\u0107i da je upravo urednik bio taj koji mu je ukazivao na ono \u0161to je potrebno da djelo dobije kona\u010dnu formu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Biografska drama \u2018Genij\u2019 dobro prikazuje kako je te\u017eak put u stvaranju umjetni\u010dkog djela. Spomenimo kako u filmu Francisa Scotta Fitzgeralda (1896. \u2013 1940.) glumi Guy Pearce, a Ernesta Hemingwayja (1899. \u2013 1961.) Dominic West.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thomas Wolfe (1900. \u2013 1938.) ro\u0111en je u Ashecilleu, gradi\u0107u Sjeverne Karoline. Njegovi netipi\u010dni knji\u017eevni sastavci potakli su u\u010ditelje da se zalo\u017ee za njega. Upisao se u otmjenu \u0161kolu, namijenjenu sinovima bogatih, a dobio i stipendiju. Na sveu\u010dili\u0161tu pi\u0161e drame. Poslije zavr\u0161enog studija zaposlio se kao nastavnik knji\u017eevnosti i pisao drame bez pravog uspjeha. Roman \u2018Pogledaj dom svoj, an\u0111ele\u2019 prvi je od \u010detiri obimna romana koji \u010dine veliki autobiografski roman. Slijedi \u2018O vremenu i rijeci\u2019\u2019 (Of Time and the River, 1935.), \u2018Pau\u010dina i kamen\u2019 (\u2018The Web and the Rock, 1939.), i posthumno, \u2018Ne mo\u017ee\u0161 vi\u0161e ku\u0107i\u2019 (You can\u2019t go home again, 1940.). Simboli\u010dan naslov romana \u2018Pogledaj svoj dom, an\u0111ele\u2019 Wolfe je uzeo od Johna Miltona (1608. \u2013 1674.) iz poeme \u2018Lycidas\u2019.
