Sedam i pol sati poetskog horora o postojanju, ne samo ljudskog, ve\u0107 ukupnog svemirskog gr\u010da postojanja. U bezvremenskom u\u017easu neizvjesnosti i nesigurnosti ljudi nisu neka evolucijska ni bo\u017eanska kruna hijerarhije stvaranja, ve\u0107 jednako podjarmljeni neobja\u0161njivim i neopisivim pritiskom okolnosti kao i oni koje sami podjarmljuju.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ovo je metafori\u010dki horor u kojem nisu ugro\u017eeni pojedinci, pred nekim silama mraka ili poreme\u0107enim ubojicama, ovdje nema mogu\u0107nosti izlaza i najavljeni simboli\u010dni odlazak iz tog izoliranog mjesta ubla\u0107enog beskrajnjim ki\u0161ama, iz te prljav\u0161tine, gadosti i sporosti na neko bolje mjesto, u neku perspektivu, jedna je od krunskih la\u017ei i iluzija, a oni koji trpe ne zaslu\u017euju izbavljenje. Pjesnik i manipulator rije\u010di Irimi\u00e1s, u kafkijanskom predvorju policijske uprave, govori o &#8216;vje\u010dnosti bespomo\u0107nosti&#8217;. Ne radi se o konkretizaciji represivnog aparata kao komunisti\u010dkog ili socijalisti\u010dkog ili bilo kojeg drugog. Osim uniformi dvaju \u010dinovnika na kraju filma, nema izravnih referencija na socrealisti\u010dki kontekst (zar je drugdje druga\u010dije?). I pored tehni\u010dkih objekata koji upu\u0107uju na bli\u017eu povijest (dalekovodi, hladnjak, \u010dak i pokvareni televizor), atmosfera djeluje bezvremeno i sveprostorno, a re\u017eimski aparat jednako bi mogao biti gestapoovski ili napoleonovski ili bilo koji orwellovski u\u010dinkoviti p(r)oredak birokratske budu\u0107nosti. Metafora u\u017easa svega postojanja razra\u0111uje se u nizu konkretiziranih alegorija pakla i plesnih koraka koji ga ritmiziraju.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Potpuno samostalan i samosvojan svijet B\u00e9le Tarra (i njegovih suradnika: pisac L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Krasznahorkai, monta\u017ea \u00c1gnes Hranitzky, glazba Mih\u00e1ly Vig i redateljeve gluma\u010dke konstante) hipnotizira kao svijet Tibora D\u00e9ryja, ma\u0111arskog Orwella, iz romana &#8216;Gospodin G.A. u gradu X&#8217;. Svijet tjeskobe, neodre\u0111enosti, apsurda, ko\u0161mara.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">U\u017eas periferne besperspektive svakodnevice nije dovoljan. Najstra\u0161nije je ono \u0161to se najavljuje (zvona neodre\u0111enog izvora), ono \u0161to \u0107e se dogoditi. I u ovom filmu, kao i u novijim Tarrovim &#8216;Werckmeisterovim harmonijama&#8217; (2000.) taj glas da ne\u0161to dolazi, da se ne\u0161to sprema, uz neobja\u0161njivu zvu\u010dnu najavu (zvono koje probudi Futakija, odnosno najava dolaska kita i patuljstog Princa u Werckmeisteru), prestravljuje sudionike vi\u0161e od onoga \u0161to vidimo (osim mu\u010denja ma\u010dke). Izobli\u010deni doktor alkoholi\u010dar, voajer koji prati svaki detalj pona\u0161anja svojih susjeda, a sam se ne mi\u010de iz ku\u0107e i stenje dok di\u0161e pod pritiskom alkoholnog sala. On \u00a0zna da oni hr\u010du, le\u017ee na le\u0111ima i gledaju u strop i ne poku\u0161avaju ni\u0161ta promijeniti. Tu inerciju predbacuje im i manipulator Irimias (i sam upregnut u represivnu ma\u0161ineriju) koji koristi tragediju jedne obitelji za realizaciju svog projekta. Ti jadnici imaju potrebu za promjenom, ali nemaju snage za to, pa je beskrajno odla\u017eu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Najeksplicitnije zlo u filmu \u010dini najslabija jedinka, poreme\u0107ena djevoj\u010dica, sama \u017ertva represije. Ima li goreg zla od onoga koji ne mo\u017eemo osuditi? Ma\u010dka obje\u0161ena u mre\u017ei, u cekeru iz kojeg se ne mo\u017ee izvu\u0107i, vi\u0161e od bilo kojih konkretnih prikaza trpljenja i u\u017easa (iz ratnih filmova ili horora) simbolizira u\u017eas univerzalne bespomo\u0107nosti. Mre\u017ea iz koje se poku\u0161ava izmigoljiti ma\u010dka (iz najnepodno\u0161ljive dionice sredi\u0161nje komponente Sotonskog tanga) mre\u017ea je u kojoj se svi nalazimo. \u010covjek je sam (nakazna provincijska skupina u blatnjavoj ravnici koja simbilizira \u010dovje\u010danstvo) trpi u ulozi odbojne \u017ertve. Ljudi ne mogu biti dovoljno zli, da ne budu nesretni. Nema tu moralne osude (iako je sotonski slatkorje\u010divo implicira Irimias u posmrtnom govoru). Ples u kr\u010dmi izobli\u010den je kao u delirijskim Gecanovim slikama.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">U prvom monumentalnom, nijemom kadru &#8216;Sotonskog tanga&#8217;, kamera fokusira stado goveda na blatnjavom seoskom trgu (u dubini, u prvom planu je blatni brisani prostor) i neprimjetno, kao na usporenom vrtuljku, pomi\u010de se ulijevo prate\u0107i njihov spori ali determinirani put, zatim zakre\u0107e u ulicu paralelnu s prolazom kojim se kre\u0107e stado. Kamera faktografski prolazi preko oronulih zidova ku\u0107ica koje zaklanjaju pogled na stado i povremeno, u razmaku me\u0111u ku\u0107ama, u izdubljenom planu, uo\u010dava goveda kako se kre\u0107u, sama, bez ikakve pratnje, bez ikakvog poticaja, vra\u0107aju se u staju (ili na livadu), vra\u0107aju se u svoju funkciju podre\u0111enosti i iskoristivosti. I pobjegli konji (na trgu praznog grada, rijetka privla\u010dna urbana slika u filmu) potvr\u0111uju tu sklonost inerciji i nesposobnosti za slobodu. Oni se, dodu\u0161e, ne vra\u0107aju u klaonicu, ali oklijevaju pobje\u0107i, neki neodlu\u010dno obilaze rotondu oko spomenika izla\u017eu\u0107i se opasnosti. Ta metafora ugra\u0111enog su\u017eanjstva mo\u017ee se primijeniti i na \u010dovjeka, ali to nije dovoljno kao izraz potpunog poraza. Nema izlaza, ni u izlazu iz svoje prirode.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">U Tarrovim dugim, promi\u0161ljenim, umjetni\u010dki i tehni\u010dki pripremljenim kadrovima ostaje vremena za razmi\u0161ljanje, stvari se pomi\u010du u prirodnom trajanju, \u010dini se da se ni\u0161ta ne doga\u0111a, ali onda nas zatekne promjena kao trik, kao ma\u0111ioni\u010darev zec iz crnog cilindra. Kamera je nadre\u0111ena likovima i doga\u0111ajima. Ona nije slobodna (to pitanje slobode i reda pomno se obra\u0111uje u sceni u uredu policijske uprave u koju pozivaju dvojicu agenata). Kamera upravlja doga\u0111anjima, ona zna \u0161to \u0107e se dogoditi, ona \u010deka, stati\u010dna i samouvjerena, prije nego likovi u\u0111u u kadar, i ne prati ih kad iza\u0111u, ona zastaje i pu\u0161ta ih da odu, pa &#8216;kora\u010da&#8217; za njima ili ih napu\u0161ta. Ona izostavlja likove koje slu\u0161amo (njihove rije\u010di ili glasove, kad stenju, povra\u0107aju, \u0161u\u0161kaju).
