Fredersenov sin Freder zaljubi se u mladu Mariju, koja propovjeda ljubav i odbacuje nasilje u borbi protiv nepravednog poretka. Fredersenov glavni suradnik, zli znanstvenik Rotwang, kreira robotsku Marijinu dvojnicu kako bi unio pomutnju me\u0111u radnike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prema vlastitoj izjavi (koju su poslije neki povjesni\u010dari filma osporavali), nadahnut njujor\u0161kim neboderima, F. Lang odlu\u010dio je snimiti futuristi\u010dki film, predlo\u017eiv\u0161i tada\u0161njoj supruzi Th. von Harbou da napi\u0161e romaneskni predlo\u017eak \u2013 po tvrdnji L. Eisner, scenarij je prethodio romanu, a po nekim drugim povjesni\u010darima (Th. Elsaesser) nastajali su istovremeno. \u010celnik tvrtke UFA-e E. Pommer odobrio je iznimno velik bud\u017eet (kona\u010dni tro\u0161kovi iznosili su pet milijuna maraka, navodno vi\u0161e i od prora\u010duna \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=1201\">Netrpeljivosti<\/a><\/strong>, \u010dime bi M. bio najskuplji projekt nij. razdoblja), a Lang je film koncipirao sintetiziraju\u0107i ekspresionisti\u010dka i futuristi\u010dka na\u010dela. Idejno naslije\u0111e ekspresionizma razvidno je u kritici dehumaniziraju\u0107e tehnologije, u motivima iracionalnosti, arhai\u010dnosti, otu\u0111enosti u urbanom ambijentu te u redateljevu omiljenom motivu \u2013 mo\u0107nog i nemilosrdnog Uma koji vlada individualnom i kolektivnom sudbinom ljudi, dok je futurizam prisutan u fascinaciji urbanom i tehnolo\u0161kom moderno\u0161\u0107u te u kona\u010dnici priznanjem potencijala za dru\u0161tv. promjene koji le\u017ei u modernoj tehnologiji. Ekspresionizam i futurizam susre\u0107u se i na oblikovno-dizajnerskom planu, skladnim povezivanjem prepoznatljivo ekspresionisti\u010dke teksture fotografije, geometrijski komponirane scenografije i mizanscene (pravilno gibanje masa) s futuristi\u010dkom arhitekturom, dizajnom prometala i vizualnim efektima (npr. \u010desta uporaba snopova svjetala). Kriti\u010dari \u010desto isti\u010du kako je jednostavna i nerijetko banalna antiutopijska pri\u010da, koja u zavr\u0161nici postaje utopijskom, samo izgovor za stilsko-dizajnerska rje\u0161enja, me\u0111utim ona je i interpretacijski zanimljiva. Sukob klasa koji zavr\u0161ava pomirenjem, uz afirmaciju ljubavi kao vrhovnog na\u010dela, u kona\u010dnici se doima kao afirmacija kr\u0161\u0107. soc. nauka, no prema pojedinim tuma\u010denjima sadr\u017ei bilo marksisti\u010dko-komunisti\u010dke, bilo nacisti\u010dke odn. fa\u0161isti\u010dke zna\u010dajke (Hitler i Goebbels bili su poklonici filma), a pojedini kriti\u010dari sugeriraju da se zavr\u0161no izmirenje mo\u017ee sagledavati i kao ironijski komentar. Posebno je zanimljiv tretman Marije \u2013 tim \u017eenskim aseksualnim mesijanskim likom, s jasnim asocijacijama na Krista, film sugerira feministi\u010dko usmjerenje, ali je likom destruktivnog erotiziranog i zavodljivog \u017eenskog robota ujedno kriti\u010dan prema samosvjesnoj \u017eenskoj seksualnosti. Temeljno ostvarenje znanstvene fantastike i vrhunac dizajnerske kreativnosti, M. je jedan od najimpresivnijih nij. filmova uop\u0107e. Poslije su izra\u0111ivane i kolorirane kopije s pridodanom pop-glazbom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>D. Radi\u0107<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lang, Fritz<\/strong>, njema\u010dko-amer. redatelj austr. podrijetla (Be\u010d, 1890 \u2013 Hollywood, 1976). Iz \u017eid. obitelji, studirao na be\u010dkoj Visokoj tehni\u010dkoj \u0161koli, bavio se slikarstvom i kiparstvom, sudjelovao u II. svj. ratu. Demobiliziran zbog ranjavanja, od 1917. pi\u0161e kratke pri\u010de, a potom scenarije (ugl. kriminalisti\u010dko-melodramskog sadr\u017eaja) za berlinsku tvrtku Decla-Film. Od 1919. re\u017eira (prvi film Mje\u0161anka), prvi komerc. uspjeh posti\u017ee pustolovnim (nedovr\u0161enim) serijalom Pauci (1919., 2 dijela), a prvi me\u0111unar. uspjeh omnibusom od triju pri\u010da \u2192\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=1948\"><strong>Umorna smr<\/strong>t<\/a>. Sura\u0111uju\u0107i ugl. s tada\u0161njom suprugom Th. von Harbou (od filma Lutaju\u0107a slika, 1920), stekao je ugled jednog od vode\u0107ih njem. redatelja (uz E. Lubitscha, F. W. Murnaua i G. W. Pabsta) i jednog od najistaknutijih autora ekspresionizma. Senzaciju u Njema\u010dkoj i svijetu izazivaju krim. film \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=368\">Dr. Mabuse, kockar<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(u 2 dijela), legenda \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=1214\">Nibelunzi<\/a><\/strong>, distopija \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=1071\">Metropolis<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0i prvi zna\u010dajni \u0161pijunski film uop\u0107e \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=1841\">\u0160pijuni<\/a><\/strong>, a izdvaja se i znanstveno-fantasti\u010dni \u017dena na Mjesecu (1929). Briljantan prijelaz na zv. tehnologiju ostvaruje trilerom \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=990\">M<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(povodom stogodi\u0161njice filma 1995. progla\u0161en najboljim njem. filmom svih vremena) te drugim iz trilogije o dr. Mabuseu Testament dr. Mabusea (1933), da bi 1933., po dolasku nacionalsocijalista na vlast, emigrirao u Francusku, a potom u Hollywood. Tamo iznimnu pozornost privla\u010di ve\u0107 prvim amer. filmom \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=126\">Bijes<\/a><\/strong>, potom djelomice i sljede\u0107im Samo jednom se \u017eivi (1937). Distingviranu fazu ozna\u010duju filmovi nakon 1940. Razra\u0111uju\u0107i karakteristi\u010dan splet binarnih opozicija (pojavno\u2013skriveno, svjetlo\u2013tmina, gore\u2013dolje odn. iznad\u2013ispod, svijet legaliteta \u2013 onaj ilegaliteta, podvojenost ljudskog bi\u0107a na racionalno, sve naslije\u0111e njem. faze), daje bitan doprinos amer. film noiru pa re\u017eira ratne trilere Lov na \u010dovjeka (1941), i I krvnici umiru (1943), te \u0161pijunski Ministarstvo straha (1944., prema romanu Grahama Greenea), potom \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=2117\">\u017denu u izlogu<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0i \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=606\">Grimiznu ulicu<\/a><\/strong>, a poslije Veliku \u017eegu (1953) i Izvan opravdane sumnje (1956), ali se originalno oku\u0161ava i u vesternu (\u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=2045\">Western Union<\/a><\/strong>, \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=1544\">Ran\u010d prokletih<\/a><\/strong>). Ozloje\u0111en polo\u017eajem u Hollywoodu, 1957. se vra\u0107a u (zapadnu) Njema\u010dku gdje njegovi posljednji filmovi \u2013 pustolovni Tigar od E\u0161napura (1958) i njegov nastavak Indijski nadgrobni spomenik (1959) te Tisu\u0107u o\u010diju dr. Mabusea (1960) ne ostvaruju \u017eeljeni odjek, unato\u010d iznimno pozitivnim reakcijama dijela eur. kritike. Tada, posebice zbog sve intenzivnijeg slabljenja vida, napu\u0161ta re\u017eiju. Tuma\u010dio je samoga sebe (kao filozofski raspolo\u017eena redatelja ekranizacije Odiseje) u Godardovu filmu \u2192\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/film.lzmk.hr\/clanak.aspx?id=1464\">Prezir<\/a><\/strong>. Uz J. Renoira, J. Forda, H. Hawksa i A. Hitchcocka, kultni redatelj klas. stila fabularnog filma, majstor je izra\u017eavanja neuroza suvr. svijeta te prikaza podneblja tjeskobe i gotovo sudbinske nemo\u0107i \u010dovjeka u susretima s politikom i suvr. civilizacijom kao i suo\u010denjima sa samim sobom i smr\u0107u. Izvorna vizualnog stila, specifi\u010dno je rabio svjetlosne kontraste, rakurse i okvir za nagla\u0161avanje klaustrofobi\u010dnog ugo\u0111aja te se dosljedno oslanjao na paralelnu monta\u017eu, odn. na nizanje paralelnih radnji koje funkcioniraju i kao formalna metafora oslikavanja podvojenih protagonista i podvojenog svijeta; pritom se sustav elipsi mo\u017ee tuma\u010diti i kao par vidljivo \u2013 nevidljivo u vremenu. Pesimisti\u010dna svjetonazora i sklon ironijskim opservacijama, s opusom koji je umnogome izdanak duha serijala i feljtonskog romana (o\u010ditovanog i u velikom broju razvojnih stupnjeva radnje, sekundarnih uzroka i posljedica, obrata, za\u010dudnih doga\u0111aja ili likova), prevladavanjem je takvih populisti\u010dkih obrazaca dao klju\u010dne i prve prinose razvoju niza \u017eanrova (triler, znanstvenofantasti\u010dni film). Jedan od najutjecajnijih redatelja svj. filma, zamjetljivo je utjecao na S. M. Ejzen\u0161tejna, L. Bu\u00f1uela (na \u010dije je posve\u0107ivanje filmu imao presudan udio), A. Hitchcocka, C. Reeda, H.-G. Clouzota, J. Loseya, I. Bergmana, C. Chabrola, R. Scotta, redatelje film noira op\u0107enito. Ostali va\u017eniji filmovi: Ku\u0107a pored rijeke (1950), Sudar u no\u0107i (1952), Mjese\u010deva flota (1955), Dok grad spava (1956).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>A.
