Ro\u0111ena je u Glasgowu, ve\u0107inu je djetinjstva provela u Sierra Leoneu i Velikoj Britaniji, a \u017eivjela je i u Iranu, Zambiji te na Tajlandu.\u00a0Izdala je nekoliko romana, od kojih je\u00a0<em>Memory of Love<\/em>, osvojio nagradu Commonwealth Writer\u2019s Prize, a ove godine sjedi u \u017eiriju za renomiranu nagradu\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bookslive.co.za\/blog\/2013\/01\/25\/marie-ndiaye-is-a-finalist-for-the-man-booker-international-prize-2013\/\" target=\"_blank\">Man Booker International Prize<\/a><\/strong>. Teme rata, sje\u0107anja te sukoba privatnih narativa i slu\u017ebenih historija koje ovu britansko-sijeraleonsku \u00a0spisateljicu okupiraju, vode njezine pri\u010de u problemati\u010dne zone i podru\u010dja ljudskih tragedija. To putovanje dovelo ju je i u Hrvatsku, kamo je smjestila svoj novi roman koji izlazi u travnju.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<dl id=\"attachment_6743\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 679px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a href=\"http:\/\/film-mag.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/knjizevnica_Aminatta_Forna.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6743\" title=\"Aminatta Forna, Foto: scottishpen.org\" src=\"http:\/\/film-mag.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/knjizevnica_Aminatta_Forna.jpg\" alt=\"Aminatta Forna, Foto: scottishpen.org\" width=\"669\" height=\"539\" srcset=\"http:\/\/film-mag.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/knjizevnica_Aminatta_Forna.jpg 669w, http:\/\/film-mag.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/knjizevnica_Aminatta_Forna-300x241.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 669px) 100vw, 669px\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\">Aminatta Forna, Foto: scottishpen.org<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c<em>The Hired Man<\/em>\u00a0doga\u0111a se u maloj \u00a0hrvatskoj zajednici gdje se ne\u0161to (stra\u0161no) dogodilo pred 18 godina, a ljudi i danas \u017eive s posljedicama toga\u201d, otkrila je na knji\u017eevnom festivalu u Jaipuru pro\u0161loga mjeseca, dodaju\u0107i da sva\u0111om rastrgana isto\u010dna Europa dijeli iskusta\u00a0sli\u010dna\u00a0onima u Sierra Leoneu, tako\u0111er konfliktnoj zoni koja se sada razvija, ali i \u017eivi s posljedicama rata.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O novom romanu, iskustvima rata, kulturama, sada\u0161njosti, pro\u0161losti i inspiraciji, britansko-sijeraleonska spisateljica Aminatta Forna pri\u010da za Ziher.hr.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Gdje ste prona\u0161li inspiraciju za<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>roman The Hired Man?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bavila sam se gra\u0111anskim ratom u svim trima svojim knjigama:\u00a0<em>The Devil That Danced on the Water, Ancestor Stones i The Memory of Love<\/em>. Upravo se ta posljednja,\u00a0<em>The Memory of Love<\/em>, najvi\u0161e bavi onime \u0161to prethodi gra\u0111anskom ratu, te onime \u0161to nakon njega slijedi. \u00a0U Bo\u017ei\u0107 2009. bila sam na jednom tulumu kod prijatelja iz biv\u0161e Jugoslavije. Povela sam sa sobom i neke svoje prijatelje iz Sierra Leone. Po\u010deli smo razgovarati o na\u0161im ratnim iskustvima, samo da bi zaklju\u010dili kako imamo vrlo sli\u010dna mi\u0161ljenja. Britanski gosti, koji su bili na tulumu, iskusili su rat samo kao ne\u0161to \u0161to se doga\u0111a u nekoj dalekoj zemlji, Njema\u010dkoj, Iraku ili Afganistanu. Nisu mogli zamisliti \u0161to zna\u010di do\u017eivjeti sukob na tlu vlastite domovine, sukob izme\u0111u ljudi koji su neko\u0107 poznavali jedni druge, neko\u0107 \u010dak mo\u017eda bili i prijatelji. I kad rat zavr\u0161i, ljudi su ostavljeni sa svim time, s mrljama sukoba i sjenama pitanja tko je \u0161to napravio i kome. To je bila moja inspiracija.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Koliko je Va\u0161 prija\u0161nji posao novinarke utjecao na dana\u0161nju karijeru kao spisateljice?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dobra sam u istra\u017eivanju. I u\u017eivam u tome. Ne pronalazim samo \u010dinjenice, ve\u0107 se nekako udubim u \u017eivote svojih likova, \u0161to mo\u017ee promijeniti na\u010din na koji gledam stvari i usavr\u0161iti moje ideje. Dok sam pisala<em>\u00a0The Memory of Love<\/em>, provela sam dosta vremena u operacijskoj sali gledaju\u0107i amputacije. Posje\u0107ivala sam i du\u0161evnu bolnicu u svrhe istra\u017eivanja. Ta su me iskustva mnogo toga nau\u010dila.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Jesu li su Vam doga\u0111aji o kojima ste izvje\u0161tavali poslu\u017eili kao inspiracija za romane?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ne izravno. Baviti se novinarstvom bilo mi je dosta frustriraju\u0107e. Dok sam radila za BBC, na\u010din na koji smo izvje\u0161tavali pri\u010de, i op\u0107enito na\u010din na koji se biralo koje\u00a0\u0107emo\u00a0pri\u010de pokriti, \u010dinio mi se veoma ograni\u010den. Stalno su tra\u017eili od mene da smanjim kompleksnost pri\u010da. A ja sam se osje\u0107ala kao da podcjenjujemo svoju publiku. I zato sam oti\u0161la. Shvatila sam da bih zapravo trebala pisati romane.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Za\u0161to ste mjesto radnje smjestili ba\u0161 u Hrvatsku? Gdje vidite paralelu izme\u0111u Hrvatske i va\u0161e mati\u010dne dr\u017eave \u00a0s obzirom na tematiku knjige?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Odabrala sam Hrvatsku zbog paralela s ratom, zbog tog zajedni\u010dnog iskustva koje dijeli sa Seirra Leoneom. Posjetila sam Hrvatsku kada sam bila dijete, od \u010dega su mi ostale neke veoma sna\u017ene uspomene, iako sam bila jako mala. Najvi\u0161e od svega, u sje\u0107anju mi je ostala ljepota krajolika. Sierra Leone je tako\u0111er prekrasna zemlja i bilo mi je jako te\u0161ko shvatiti kako ve\u0107ina Zapada ima dojam o Sierra Leone kao ru\u017enoj zemlji, zbog svih tih slika koje su vidjeli na televiziji. S Hrvatskom je bilo druga\u010dije, Britanci su tamo kupovali ku\u0107e za godi\u0161nji ve\u0107 nekoliko godina nakon rata. Bila sam zaprepa\u0161tena time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u0160to mislite, kako \u0107e va\u0161i \u010ditatelji reagirati na mjesto novog romana, koje je mnogima nepoznato?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pa, ne treba zaboraviti da imam internacionalnu publiku, ne samo britansku\/zapadnja\u010dku, tako da o\u010dekujem razli\u010dite razine upoznatosti od razli\u010ditih ljudi. Poku\u0161avam prona\u0107i ljude koji su pretrpjeli gra\u0111anski rat i ugnjetavanja, bili oni u Sri Lanki, \u0160panjolskoj, ili Sierra Leoneu. Trudim se naglasak staviti na temu kojom se bavim, bez obzira na okru\u017eje u kojem se ona odvija. Angloameri\u010dki je svijet druga\u010diji; \u00a0oni sve to do\u017eivljaju puno te\u017ee, zbog za\u0161ti\u0107enosti svog postojanja.\u00a0<em>The Hired Man<\/em>\u00a0djelomi\u010dno govori o tom neuspjehu povezivanja, razumijevanja stvarnog utjecaja rata i \u010dinjenice da to nije ne\u0161to \u0161to se doga\u0111a na televiziji.\u00a0<em>The Hired Man<\/em>\u00a0je toliko (mo\u017eda \u010dak i vi\u0161e) knjiga o zapadnja\u010dkoj naivnosti, koliko je i knjiga o Hrvatskoj.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Kako u kontekst rata smjestiti obi\u010dnog, malog \u010dovjeka koji godinama nakon zavr\u0161enog sukoba ne nalazi su\u017eivot u konfliktnoj sredini?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lik iz romana, \u0110uro, \u010dovjek je koji je odabrao ostati u mjestu u kojem je odrastao, iako je mno\u0161tvo ljudi odlu\u010dilo oti\u0107i. U svakom ratu, naravno, mnogi su prisiljeni oti\u0107i iz mjesta u kojem \u017eive. Jednog \u0107e se dana mo\u017eda vratiti. Broj izbjeglica i imigranata nikada nije bio ve\u0107i nego danas. Potrebno je mnogo hrabrosti da se izgradi novi \u017eivot. Me\u0111utim, treba doista mnogo hrabrosti i da se ostane, okru\u017een sje\u0107anjima na ono \u0161to se dogodilo. To je jedna od tema o kojima progovara\u00a0<em>The Hired Man.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Jeste li se i kako kroz najnoviji roman dotaknuli posebno ugro\u017eene skupine \u2013 \u017eena i djece?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Re\u010deno je da su ratovi u biv\u0161oj Jugoslaviji i Sierra Leoneu zauvijek promijenili zna\u010denje one stare \u2013 \u00a0\u201d\u017eene i djeca prvi\u201d. Ti su ratovi vo\u0111eni preko le\u0161eva civilnih \u017eena. Moj roman,<em>Ancestor Stones<\/em>, , upravo o tome govori i to vrlo detaljno. O tome u odre\u0111enoj mjeri progovara i\u00a0<em>The Hired Man<\/em>, no ne \u017eelim odati pri\u010du.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Nazire li kraj va\u0161eg romana neko kona\u010dno rje\u0161enje kraja sukoba i mirne egzistencije u post-zara\u0107enom vremenu?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nadam se. Sierra Leone je ostvarila izvanrednu razinu oprosta, tako da je mogu\u0107e. Govore\u0107i o tome, jedna od razlika izme\u0111u tamo\u0161enjeg rata i onog na podru\u010dju biv\u0161e Jugoslavije jest u tome \u0161to tamo etnicitet nikada nije bio pitanje ideologije i ratnih sukoba. Niti je etni\u010dko \u010di\u0161\u0107enje bilo dio rata. Tako da mi jo\u0161 uvijek uglavnom \u017eivimo zajedno. To je, vjerujem, pove\u0107alo pritisak da nadvladamo pro\u0161lost, ali je istodobno to i omogu\u0107ilo. Oprost je ukorijenjen u na\u0161u kulturu. Kada se osobu optu\u017ei da je po\u010dinila nepravdu spram druge osobe, ona mora tra\u017eiti oprost. Od te druge osobe, zamoljene za oprost, o\u010dekuje se da \u0107e doista i oprositit.
