Ve\u0107 idu\u0107e godine slavni je Alfred Hitchcock po ovome romanu snimio istoimeni film, jedan od najzna\u010dajnijih u svojoj karijeri. Ovaj roman sad se prvi put pojavljuje na hrvatskom jeziku u izvrsnom prijevodu <strong>Dade \u010cakala<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Romani Patricije Highsmith unose nenadma\u0161iv nemir\u2026 poput ko\u0161mara zbog kojeg se vrtimo cijelu no\u0107.<br \/>\n<strong><em>The New Yorker <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Na rubu jezivog, uznemiruju\u0107eg i ne ba\u0161 slu\u010dajnog\u2026 Highsmith daje osje\u0107aj okultnog, a da se pritom ne oslanja na elemente iz svijeta natprirodnoga.<br \/>\n<strong><em>New York Times Book Review <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Iako bi Highsmith nesumnjivo zanijekala bilo kakvu bliskost s Jonathanom Swiftom ili Evelynom Waughom, njezina najbolja djela slijede istu tradiciju\u2026 Upravo su mra\u010dni i ponekad divlja\u010dki humor i inteligencija ti koji daju jasno\u0107u i britkost njezinoj prozi i podsje\u0107aju na te autore.<br \/>\n<strong><em>Newsday <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">U rukama Patricije Highsmith ubojstvo se doima gotovo slu\u010dajnim, poput dodira branikom automobila ili napadaja mu\u010dnine uzrokovane trovanjem hranom. Njezin na\u010din na koji umanjuje osje\u0107aj drame\u2026 do\u017eivio je mnogo hvale, ba\u0161 kao i jednostavnost detalja kojima oslikava svakodnevicu i misli koje prolaze glavama njezinih psihopata. U njezinoj prozi i jedno i drugo nesumnjivo pridonose tome da zlo\u010din izgleda pitomo, doma\u0107e, \u0161to jo\u0161 vi\u0161e uvla\u010di \u010ditatelja u jezivu fantaziju koja se pred njim raspli\u0107e.<br \/>\n<strong>Robert Towers, <em>New York Review of Books<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>O autorici:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ro\u0111ena 1921. u Forth Worthu u Teksasu, <strong>Patricia Highsmith<\/strong> ve\u0107inu je svog odraslog \u017eivota provela u \u0160vicarskoj i Francuskoj. Obrazovala se na Koled\u017eu Bernard, na kojem je studirala engleski, latinski i gr\u010dki. Njezin prvijenac, Stranci u vlaku, \u010dije je prvo izdanje objavljeno 1950., pokazao se velikim komercijalnim uspjehom te je po njemu Alfred Hitchcock snimio film. Usprkos ranom priznanju, Highsmith je cijeli svoj spisateljski vijek bila podcijenjena u Sjedinjenim Dr\u017eavama.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pod pseudonimom Claire Morgan zatim je objavila Cijenu soli (The Price of Salt) 1953., koju je isprva odbio njezin ameri\u010dki izdava\u010d zbog iskrenog propitivanja teme homoseksualnosti. Njezin najpopularniji knji\u017eevni lik bio je Tom Ripley, psihopat i kico\u0161, koji se prvi put pojavio u romanu Talentirani gospodin Ripley (The Talented Mr. Ripley) 1955. Za njim su uslijedila jo\u0161 \u010detiri romana o Ripleyju. Posthumno je snimljen i hvaljeni istoimeni film, koji je pridonio revalorizaciji i priznanju njezina djela u Sjedinjenim Dr\u017eavama.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Napisala je vi\u0161e od dvadeset knjiga i dobila mnoge nagrade, uklju\u010duju\u0107i nagradu O. Henry Memorial, nagradu Edgara Allana Poea, Le Grand Prix de Litt\u00e9rature Polici\u00e8re i nagradu Saveza pisaca kriminalisti\u010dkih romana Velike Britanije.
