Poha\u0111ao je Maryland Institute College of Art (1974-77) i Cooper Union (1977-78) u New Yorku. \u0160kolovanje nastavlja u Frankfurtu u Staatliche Hochschule f\u00fcr Bildende K\u00fcnste. Baechler se 1980. vra\u0107a u New York gdje postaje nezaobilazni dio umjetni\u010dke scene Donjeg Manhattana, izla\u017eu\u0107i u East Villageu i u galerijama kao Artist Space i Drawing Center, te u galeriji Tonyja Shafrazija skupa sa predstavnicima grafiti arta Haringom, Scharfom i Basqiuatom. Njegovi radovi nalaze se u stalnim postavima Whitney Museum of American Art, Muzeju moderne umjetnosti i Guggenheimu u New Yorku, Muzeju lijepih umjetnosti u Bostonu, Stedelijk Museumu u Amsterdamu i u George Pompidou Centru u Parizu.<\/p>\n<p>Tvrde\u0107i za sebe da je prije svega apstraktni umjetnik, va\u017enija mu je linija, forma i ravnote\u017ea nego tema, naracija ili politika. Baechlerovi radovi obilje\u017eeni su infantilnim likovima i tematikom u kojima namjerno zanemaruje tradicionalnu estetiku i izra\u017eava se spontano i neposredno, na na\u010din kako bi to radila djeca. Opsesivno ponavljaju\u0107i elemente iz svog kataloga simbola, stvara sebi svojstvenu \u00abgramatiku\u00bb vrlo popularne i specifi\u010dne poetske izra\u017eajnosti, navode\u0107i gledatelja na druga\u010dije \u010ditanje vidljivog svijeta. Uz izlo\u017ebu je tiskan odgovaraju\u0107i katalog od 48 stranica. Uvodni tekst napisao je teoreti\u010dar i povjesni\u010dar umjetnosti, publicist Alan Jones.
